CS:GO CUSTOM GAME PETITION
Written By nexz - 06.12.2011
A petition has gone under way for Valve to produce a section on the newest CounterStrike game due to release next year on Xbox 360. It is so that the game can be played competitively both that organisations like us would like to see and of course the gamers.

http://www.consoleaddi.../08/counter-strike-go.png
https://www.petitionbu...m/petitions/counterstrike

Just simply fill in your name and hopefully it can make a difference so that we can get another fantastic game competitive on the ever growing console scene!

ModernWarfare 3 Flamed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has attracted near-universal critical acclaim. It is a slick, well-constructed and generously proportioned instalment in one of the most revered military shooter franchises in history. There is just one problem. Everyone on the internet hates it.

Soon after the game's release on Tuesday, savage user reviews began to appear on score aggregation site, Metacritic. A flood of 0/10s outnumbered ecstatic 10s and considered 7s and 8s by a dramatic margin. Currently, for the Xbox 360 version of the title, the average user score for one of the biggest entertainment releases of the year stands at a wretched 3.0. On PC it's 1.7.

So what is happening?

The first point, of course, is that it's dangerous to think of these outbursts as being in anyway representative of the majority opinion. "On day one or two, you are going to get a vocal minority who take to the forums on Metacritic and use them as a soap box to vent their rage about the series," says Daniel Krupa, a writer at games site, IGN.

"Most of the millions of people who bought the game are actually playing it and enjoying it. A similar thing happened with Portal 2 back in April. It's one of the most critically appreciated games of the year, but on the day of release, people were on Metacritic criticising it for lots of reasons. Since then, the rating has risen and there's now parity between the critical and the user scores. I imagine something similar will happen with MW3 over time."

But for a moment, let's consider the objections being raised. Reading through the usually short, often apoplectic review comments on Metacritic, one objection is raised over and over again: Modern Warfare 3 is basically Modern Warfare 2 again; it is a map pack, adding nothing new or innovative to the series. One reasonably representative review states:

Don't believe the marketing hype, this is the same product rebundled let it die and show investors we're not interested in being sold the same product year after year, the cash cow needs to starve.

The latest addition to one of the world's best selling videogame series goes on sale at midnight.

Thousands of gamers are expected to queue at over 500 stores across the UK to buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Its predecessor, Call of Duty: Black Ops, generated more than $1bn (£620m) of global sales over the first six weeks of its launch.

However, troubles at the studio behind the new title have threatened to overshadow its release.

The latest game follows on from events in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Players take on the role of special forces resisting a Russian invasion of the United States and Europe.

The campaign is set across locations in England, France and Germany as well as Africa, India and the Middle East.
Sacked

Modern Warfare 3 is the first title in two years to be developed by Infinity Ward, the creator of the Call of Duty series.

Critics are keen to discover if staffing changes at the California-based studio affected the product.

Activision fired Infinity Ward's founders, Jason West and Vincent Zampella, in 2010 accusing them of misconduct. The firm later described them as "insubordinate and self-serving schemers" who had negotiated with rivals while under contract.

The two men sued their ex-employer seeking unpaid royalty payments and damages. Activision countersued, alleging that the men had held secret talks with Electronic Arts.

A court in Los Angeles is set to consider the case in May 2012.

Mr West and Mr Zampella went on to set up a new studio, Respawn Entertainment, which signed a publishing and distribution rights deal with EA.

Several of Infinity Ward's other employees also moved to the new studio. Respawn's website reveals that 40 members of its staff previously worked on the Modern Warfare series.

Activision brought in one of its other teams - Sledgehammer Games - to help the remaining Infinity Ward workers complete Modern Warfare 3.

Several members of Sledgehammer's team had helped develop the highly regarded Dead Space series, helping restore gamers confidence in the project.
Demand

There is now huge interest in what they have been able to deliver.

A trailer of the new game, posted on YouTube on 21 October, has already attracted more than four million hits.
Battlefield 3 Call of Duty faces competition from EA's Battlefield 3

IHS Screen Digest predicts the title will sell more than 20 million copies worldwide before the end of the year, despite competition from EA's rival title, Battlefield 3, which was released over the last fortnight.

"It's not just about day one sales for these types of games - there's a heavy online-multiplayer aspect," said Steve Bailey, an analyst at Screen Digest.

"Gamers pay for enhanced subscription services such as Call of Duty: Elite's extra social/profile features, or direct-purchase other content such as map packs.

"The true test will be taking place over the next six months to a year, where we see who can support the gaming community best, retaining and engaging an audience in an ongoing fashion."

Not everyone has been willing to wait. French media reported that thousands of copies were stolen in a Paris heist, and pirated versions of the game have been spotted online.

Other titles fighting for a place at the top of the Christmas games charts include Skyrim, the fifth entry in the Elder Scrolls role-playing series, and the action adventure Batman: Arkham City.

BattleField 3 Beta release times

A lot of folks are reporting that they still haven’t received their beta keys — which isn’t a surprise, since the beta won’t be starting for another 5 or so hours at the earliest (5 AM PST). According to DICE (via Twitter), beta keys will be sent out around 1PM to 3PM, CET (Central European Time) — roughly 3-5 hours from now. Here’s a run down when beta keys will be sent out in your local time:

US Pacific time: 4 AM – 6 AM
US Eastern time: 7 AM – 9 AM
Europe: 1 PM – 3 PM
Australia (AEST): 9 PM – 11 PM
Japan: 8 PM -11 PM JST

Note that the above times are for PC and Xbox 360 beta, the PlayStation 3 version still remains uncertain.

We’ve also got confirmation that the beta weighs in at 3.9 GB. This could cause a great deal of stress on EA’s servers, which makes sense why beta key giveaways are spread out by a few hours.
